My story, “The Man Who Built Gallows”, which appears in this excellent collection of ghost stories represents a lot of firsts for me. It was the first story I wrote upon returning to writing, and it was also my first attempt at a western, albeit a supernatural western. It was also my first acceptance and publication since my return. In addition to the appearance, Gallows was a top 5 finalist for the inaugural Longhorn Prize presented by Saddlebag Dispatches Magazine.
