Hey y’all! Welcome to my long-overdue website! I’m Terry, and I’ve been writing in some form or another for as long as I can remember. But it wasn’t until the late 80’s that some dark flame burst into existence deep within my brain, and I started writing short horror fiction. Long hand in spiral notebooks at first, then I purchased my first computer (it weighed about a hundred pounds!) After that, I started submitting my work. Lots of rejections came my way, but eventually, I got my first acceptance–to Thin Ice Magazine. The rejections kept coming, but more and more acceptances joined them. I enjoyed some success during the 90’s, appearing in some of the well-known small press magazines of the day such as After Hours, Space and Time, Terminal Fright, and Into the Darkness. My work began showing up in mass market anthologies, Kiss and Kill: The Hot Blood Series, Horrors! 365 Scary Stories, and Young Blood to name a few. I started marketing a couple of novels I had completed. A reviewer even wrote, “Terry Campbell is beginning to make a name for himself in the small press”. Things were looking good. And then, around 2001, a myriad of events transpired that I won’t get into here, and I stopped writing. Completely. My creative muse was gone. For over twenty years, I didn’t write a single word of fiction. Then, in 2023, I had a strange dream and thought, “that would make a great story”. My lovely wife bought me a laptop. I started writing again. And I haven’t stopped. Join me on this new journey. It’s just down the road aways . . . a little west of weird.
